It's been a frustrating summer for Hull City with a variety of names linked with the club only to turn them down. So, who did say yes to wearing the Hull City shirt?

Like any other Premiership football club Hull City have been linked with a variety of potential new signings over the summer months. Some big names such as Michael Owen may never have been serious contenders when Man Utd came calling but others such as fans' favourite Frazier Campbell gave every indication of signing, only to go elsewhere.

So, who did agree to wear the amber and black? What will they add to the current Hull City team?

Current Hull City Transfers

  1. Kamel Ghilas - Ghilas signed from Celta Vigo and it is believed that this Algerian striker could provide some much needed guile up front. He came on as a sub in the Chelsea v Hull match last weekend and almost scored, hitting the top of the net. Linked in the past with Arsenal, Ghilas almost moved to Blackburn Rovers in the summer following a successful season at Celta as the club's top scorer in the 2008/9 season.
  2. Stephen Hunt - Hunt is a familiar face to most Hull City fans from his time at Reading. His creative left sided midfield skills should do much to revitalise City's attacking options. The proof of the pudding really was in the eating in the Chelsea v Hull match where he became an instant hero with City supporters for putting Hull 1-0 up!
  3. Jozy Altidore -- Altidore joined the club on loan from Villareal for the coming season. This young American international is a highly rated prospect and could provide some useful options in his favoured role as a striker. Fans who saw his wonder goal in the USA's shock defeat of Spain in this year's Confederations Cup will be looking forward to seeing him on the pitch in a Hull City shirt!
  4. Seyi Olofinjana -- Olofinjana joined Hull from rivals Stoke City this summer. This classy midfielder opted to stay in the Premiership with Hull rather than join Monaco. Highly rated by Stoke City, this player has already stated that he is looking forward to playing some good football with Hull.
  5. Steven Mouyokolo -- Mouyokolo was signed by Hull in last January's transfer window but was allowed to see out the season with Boulogne where he helped them win promotion to the French First Division for the first time. He is considered to be one of the most promising young French defenders and has been linked in the past with a range of other Premiership clubs including Arsenal.
  6. Paul McShane -- City finally brought back Paul McShane to the fold at the end of August. Signed from Sunderland for an undisclosed fee this defender impressed fans last season and many were disappointed when he was recalled to Sunderland.
  7. Ibrahima Sonko -- A late transfer window announcement saw Sonko, the Stoke City defender, join Hull on a season long loan.
  8. Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink -- Just when the transfer window business seemed done City announced the signing of this experienced striker. He comes into the club as a free agent having been released from Celtic in the summer and brings a wealth of experience and an enthusiasm to play in the Premiership that could well be useful to the club and its relatively young strikeforce.

Hull City Transfer Round-up

The loss of Michael Turner was a blow to the club and its fans but many understand the defender's reasons for wanting a move and the club's final willingness to sell. It was encouraging to see that the club refused to pay over the odds for certain players and that their policy of active team building remained in place. The midfield players who joined the club are already impressing fans and bringing in Paul McShane and Sonko at least gives Hull a couple of experienced Premiership defenders to bolster their defence. Their moves for strikers could actually make this an exciting season for Tigers fans with an impressive mix of youth and experience.
