The greatest tragedy suffered by any football team was in February 1958, when a plane crash in Munich killed eight of the Manchester United team players and three officials, 12 other people also died. Legend Bobby Charlton was extremely lucky to escape, but the players that died were all young players, coached by, then manager, Matt Busby, and nicknamed the Busby Babes.
