Manchester City and Chelsea join Everton at the top of the Premier League with their second win of the season. United have Ronaldo sent-off and only draw with Portsmouth.

Chelsea came from a goal behind at half-time against Reading who had scored through Andre Bikey after thirty minutes. Petr Chech in the Chelsea goal made a mistake in trying to punch a header clear and the ball dropped to Bikey who tapped it home, his first touch after coming on as substitute. However, in the second half Chelsea scored twice in the first five minutes of the half to change the course of the game. Frank Lampard levelled after forty seven minutes and then three minutes later Didier Drogba scored the winner from the edge of the penalty box.
Reading had their second sending off of the season when Kalifa Cisse received his second yellow card.
Sven Goran Eriksson’s Manchester City scored their second goal at home in 2007, the last one was on New Year’s Day. Michael Johnson’s strike against Derby County gave them the three points and keeps them ahead of United ahead of this weekend’s derby match.
Champions, Manchester United had to settle for their second draw of the season at Portsmouth as Carlos Tevez made his debut. He set up Paul Scholes to put United ahead but Portsmouth equalised after half-time when Benjani Mwaruwari headed in a Matt Taylor cross.
The robust game overflowed in the final minutes as both sides finished with ten men when two players are sent off within three minutes. Sulley Muntari receives a second yellow card for a late tackle on Michal Carrick and then at a corner Christiano Ronaldo is dismissed for head-butting Richard Hughes. Both teams get involved in much pushing and shoving following the incident.
The two promoted sides shared four goals at St.Andrews. Birmingham City took the lead from a corner with a McShane own goal following a corner midway through the first half. Michael Chopra levelled with his second goal in two games with fifteen minutes remaining. However, City went ahead again through substitute O’Connor with eight minutes left only for Sunderland to get another last minute goal from former City player Stern John.
Fulham got their first win of the season by defeating Bolton Wanderers at Craven Cottage. Bolton took and early lead when a mistake from the Fulham goalkeeper, Tony Warner, presented Heidar Helguson with a goal. However, two quick goals within three minutes from David Healy, his second of the season, and Alexei Smertin midway through the half gave Lawrie Sanchez’s side the points.
Wigan Athletic defeated Middlesbrough when Antoine Sibierski scored early in the second half, a goal on his home debut. This leaves Boro, Bolton and Tottenham as the three sides with no points after two games. Villa and West Ham are also pointless but have only played one game each.
Everton are top, ahead of Manchester City with Chelsea third. Manchester United have only two points while Roy Keane’s Sunderland are fourth with four points.
