An Old Firm Cup Final could be on the cards for mid March if Celtic and Rangers are kept apart in the semi-final draw due to be made live on BBC Television.

Kilmarnock 1 Celtic 3

Goals from Scott McDonald, Shusuke Nakamura and Aiden McGeady ensured that Celtic will feature in the semi-final draw. The SPL Champions enjoyed a comfortable evening at Rugby Park, the highlight of which was Shunsuke Nakamura's stunning free kick just before half time, after Scott McDonald had opened the scoring for the Parkhead side. Danny Invincible gave the Rugby Park side hope as he scored from close range with almost 30 minutes remaining, but Aiden McGeady's goal on 71 minutes after fine work by midfielder Scott Brown eased Celtic through.

Rangers 2 Hamilton 0

Kris Boyd and Kyle Lafferty were the architects of Rangers' comfortable win against Hamilton in the Quarter Final at Ibrox. The holders saw off a plucky Accies side who were undone by Kris Boyd's 25th minute opener. Rangers put the tie beyond doubt five minutes into the second half when Kyle Lafferty headed past Cerny in the Hamilton goal. Blues manager Walter Smith paid tribute to defender Madjid Bougherra's pace and consistency in a post-match interview, adding that returning skipper Barry Ferguson is nearing a return to first team action.

Dundee United 1 Dunfermline 0

Last season's finalists proved too strong for First Division Dunfermline, with Scott Robertson grabbing the only goal of the game. The midfielder gave the Tannadice outfit the lead after 15 minutes when he collected Willo Flood's cross after 15 minutes and fired home from close range. The Pars almost equalised three minutes after the break through a Stephen Glass effort; while United keeper Zaluska made a stunning save from the same player with a few minutes remaining, but Dundee United held on for an important victory.

Falkirk 1 Inverness CT 0

Neil McCann's 36th minute goal proved the difference between the sides as Falkirk progressed to the semi final of the CIS insurance Cup. Inverness had several good chances to get on the scoresheet, but a wicked combination of poor finishing and excellent goalkeeping kept them goalless. Early in the second half Falkirk were denied a penalty by referee David Somers when Rooney was brought down by Gerard Aafjes. Despite clever attacking play by Inverness, the lack of a cutting edge meant that John Hughes' side scored a narrow win and will deservedly take their place in the semi-final of the Co-Operative Insurance Cup.

The draw for the semi-finals of the Cup is due to be made on November 12th with the ties taking place in early February.
