The first old firm game of the season was the usual hectic affair; with Rangers' use of pace the key difference between the sides, ending in a 4-2 win for the visitors

There are new leaders in the Scottish Premier League following the Old Firm derby. Kenny Miller scored twice in the second half to inflict a first defeat of the season on his former club. A unique feature of the weekend results was the fact that every 'away' team won - will this be repeated again this season?

Saturday 30th August 2008

Dundee United 0 Kilmarnock 2 (HT 0-1)

Goals either side of half time from former Gretna midfielder Gavin Skelton and Danny Invincible ensured that Killie temporarily went top of the table. It's been a flying start for the Rugby Park side and this weekend the top two in the SPL table play each other at Ibrox in the game of the day.

Falkirk 1 Inverness 2 (HT 0-0)

Dougie Imrie's late strike gave Inverness the victory as they came from behind to defeat Falkirk. Mark Stewart had put Falkirk ahead in the 60th minute; but following Don Cowie's equaliser eight minutes later Caley moved to 5th in the table after the crucial away win.

Hamilton 1 Hearts 2 (HT 0-1)

The Accie's promising early season start is fast deteriorating, on this occasion Heart of Midlothian had too much experience and nous for their newly-promoted hosts. Goals from Zaliukas(18 minutes) and Driver on 59 had put Hearts in total control, but a late rally from Hamilton including a goal from substitute Derek Lyle saw an exciting finish. Hearts held on for the three points.

Hibernian 0 Motherwell 1 (HT 0-0)

John Sutton scored the only goal of the game after 79 minutes to give Motherwell their first SPL win of the season. It was Sutton's second goal in as many games since joining the Fir Park side, and their thoughts now turn to the visit of Celtic on Saturday.

St. Mirren 0 Aberdeen 1 (HT 0-1)

Darren Mackie's strike after 43 minutes decided this close encounter. In a rare Dons' foray forward, Saints defender Will Haining slipped, allowing Mackie to score his first goal of the season and against the run of play. Despite trying valiantly, Saints couldn't break down a stubborn Aberdeen defence as the visitors left Love Street with all three points.

Sunday 31st August 2008

Celtic 2 Rangers 4 (HT 1-1)

A double from ex-Celt Kenny Miller in the 52nd and 79th minutes helped to secure Rangers' first win at Parkkead since February 2005. Daniel Cousin had given the 'Gers the lead after 37 minutes but Giorgios Samaras equalised 2 minutes later. The second half belonged to Rangers, however, as Miller's double and a stunning 25-yarder from Pedro Mendes put them 4-1 ahead. A trademark free-kick from Shunsuke Nakamura only added some respectability to the scoreline as Cousin and Venegoor of Hesselink were sent off late on by referee Dougie McDonald.

Motherwell v Celtic (12.30pm)

All other games kick-off at 3pm:
